When can a savings or investment product carry the Ethibel PIONEER or Ethibel EXCELLENCE label?

The use of the Ethibel PIONEER or Ethibel EXCELLENCE label is set out in a contract and subject to strict rules, of which the following are the most important ones:

  • The labelled funds may only contain shares of companies included in the Investment Register.
  • A fund with Ethibel PIONEER label only contains companies with A and B rating.
  • A fund with Ethibel EXCELLENCE label only contains companies with A, B or C rating.
  • If a company is removed from the Investment Register after a revision because it does not score well enough anymore in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) or because it is involved in serious controversies, the financial institution must remove the share from the fund within a predefined period.
  • Forum ETHIBEL checks whether the fund still meets the criteria (these checks usually take place every quarter, depending on the fund’s risk profile the frequency can be increased to once a month or reduced to once every six months).
  • When the contract terminates, the right to use the label no longer exists.
