Forum Ethibel is on the lookout for a new Board Member with relevant experience and skills, and a strong ambition to join our Board of Directors as from the summer 2025.

About us:

Forum ETHIBEL is a Belgian not-for-profit organisation with 30+ years’ experience in the field of rating, independent audit and certification of financial products and services that meet specific requirements in terms of ethics and sustainability.
Forum ETHIBEL actively promotes Socially Responsible Investing by offering its services for sustainable (financial) products. By means of a range of financial and social audit and certification services, Forum ETHIBEL offers concrete solutions for sustainable investing and socially responsible behaviour of (social) companies.

Forum ETHIBEL is an organisation with a small team and a large network.

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with knowledge, experience, and/or motivation in socially responsible investments and/or corporate social responsibility:
• Financial profile with a focus on Socially Responsible Investment (SRI)
• Social profile with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
We are looking for someone who – through expertise or experience – is familiar with the opportunities and threats of the sector. Someone who wants to set out lines and direction for our organisation.
As an independent Board Member, your mission will be to provide expertise and share your experience and market insights, open your network and act as a sounding board for the director who is in charge of the daily management.

As an independent member of the Board, we expect you to bring your experience and skills but also to challenge the management and help us create (societal added) value and define the best strategic course for the coming years.

Your mission will include:

• Providing input on our services offering, our selling propositions and development plans.
• Helping us define and follow-up our financial and operational KPIs.

• Share your expertise and give advice on specific matters on which we seek input such as sustainable finance, business development and marketing plans, sustainable progress in social organisations, etc.

Required availability:

Board meeting: you will participate at 4-6 Board Meetings per year (2 hours) to discuss and review company performance, internal organization, and all strategic topics and management proposals, including the review and approval of the yearly budget.
General Assembly: 1 meeting per year.

Sounding Board: from time to time, when needed, your input or feedback will be asked on specific matters. This will be occasionally.

What we offer:

Being part of an organisation looking for added societal value, especially in the domain of sustainable finance and socially responsible behaviour in the (social) economy.

A mandate in the Board of Directors of Forum Ethibel is without remuneration, but the exchanges and reflections are an enriching experience, since FE is already 30 years active in this field.

Your profile:

Expertise and experience:

You are familiar with sustainable finance, or even developed such a business yourself. You understand the challenges in a competitive environment and you believe you can help us develop our business in the Belgian context.

Network and market intelligence:

You have a network and some market intelligence in sustainable finance, or in the domain of the social economy.

Communication skills:

You strive for open and transparent communication and express your opinion and convictions and arguments.

Collaboration:

You are convinced that a Board works better when it is collaborative and will seek consensus but without comprising your opinions.

Independent mindset:

You will show your critical thinking skills, and will challenge existing ideas and practices. You are truly independent from any conflicting party or interest.

Strategic focus:

You are result-oriented with a focus on long-term objectives.

You are French or Dutch speaking, preferably French mother tongue, but passive knowledge of the other language is necessary. Besides, the knowledge of English is needed to understand all the documentation.
